SEER ratings are efficiency standards set by the Department of Energy that HVAC equipment manufacturers must meet. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the system.

In Texas, newly installed HVAC units must have a minimum SEER rating of 14. While we offer systems with SEER ratings up to 19. That said, other factors such as climate and system maintenance can impact how well a system cools a home.

The Department of Energy recommends that homeowners replace their HVAC units every 10 to 15 years. Depending on how well you maintain your system, after around the 10-year mark, most systems start to degrade in quality.

For HVAC replacements that don’t require ductwork, a change-out typically only takes one day. If ductwork is required, the process can take an additional two or three days depending on how much work is required. This timeframe does not factor in other home improvements that must be made such as asbestos or lead abatement or home remodeling to accommodate the new unit.
